Dr. Pepper Guiberson 88 Icebox

The Dr. Pepper Guiberson “88” was produced in the late 40’s. It was a simple, rounded ice chest that held 88 bottles when full. The front two doors hid a place for empties. It was not embossed but had a porcelain sign on the front, so I guess it could have been made for any flavor, but we have only seen it in Dr. Pepper. Guiberson also produced an electric version of this that was a coin-operated vendor. I love this little cooler and I wish we still owned it.

I have one of the sign off a Dr Pepper Guiberson”88″. It is in good condition with the rounded corners. Can you estimate its dollar value. Thank you

    Mark,
We aren’t able to give estimates on the value of an item. If you keep an eye on Ebay or Craig’s List, your item is sure to be listed at some point. That may give you a rough idea of it’s value but keep in mind prices vary greatly depending on condition. If anyone can help with a value of this item please comment.

I recently p/u a Dr. Pepper ice box. It is about 6 ft long and 32 in tall. It is an old commercial box w/removable metal clad doors on top (4). I am working on it and of course the wood frame needs help and metal floor needs replacing. also has other cosmetic rust to be addressed. I will need bottle opener w/can to catch tops. Need logos / paint etc.. I would also like to see a photo of this type unit made by Progress Manufacturing.

    Your suggestions / comments Please.
    Thank You.

I am lucky enough to own a Guiberson Dr. Pepper. Jeff Kimble did the restoration. It took him approximately 1 year to get this back to Museum quality.
