I have exact same one...my grandparents had a little corner store and bought this one. It was never used after the war broke out and coffee was rationed. Any idea how much it might be worth...it is mint.

Sonny, Since I last posted, I purchased another unit in much better shape (glass is intact). However, I have a question. The new one I purchased is nearly identical to the first one. However, the glass reads "Your coffee is being freshly ground" then it lists "very fine, fine, medium, and coarse" as the selections to choos from. My first unit stated "Fresh coffee ground to the method of your making" followed by "vacuum pot, drip pot, percolator, open pot". I'm assuming the second unit I purchased is a later release, since there is this difference. Aside from that fact, the only difference is a more modern Hobart logo and lid (knob) handle. Otherwise, these units look the same. Did I mention it is also clean as a whistle and grinds beautifully? If you have the window glass as shown above with the types of grinds (open pot, percolator, etc.) I would be interested in getting a scan of it. I would prefer the older style glass sign over the newer one. Thanks!!!

I recently purchased this same unit. However, the one thing I need to replace is the front glass sign. Can anyone provide a scan or template of the glass sign so I can reproduce it? I would be willing to pay a small fee for this. Thank you.

I have just inherited a Hobart 3330 coffee grinder. I is in great condition with the exception of the glass pieces on the top front and back where the light bulbs are. Any ideas on where we can find replacement. Also, what is this machine worth

My friends just purchased a Hobart double hopper coffee mill Model 2929. It will be displayed and they would like to find out correct history on this particular machine. Does anyone know where to find this kind of information? Thank you!!

Just acquired a model 3430 and need to find a replacement shelf that fits in one of the two slots on the front of the machine. I have no idea what it looks like as I've not seen a photo of the front. Can anyone help me find this shelf?

Mike,

We haven't been in the restoration business for awhile, so we can't give estimates on value. Your best bet is to keep checking ebay or Craig's list. Also, there have been a few online if you google it. One unrestored sold for $175, but I'm not sure of when it was sold.

Your best bet is to find a coffee grinder to use for parts. We don't have any parts available.

Mike,

We no longer own this coffee grinder, so we cannot help you out with images. The blog pictures are the best that we have.
When we restored ours, we had a local sign company replace the broken glass in our machine with vinyl on frosted glass.

Lisa,

The paint used was PPG Acrylic Automotive paint, codes:
Black	DC9300
Burgundy DCC71965

You can check automotive supply stores for the lime green paint, or craft stores. Probably the easiest thing to do is google it.
Good luck!

We are currently restoring a Hobart coffee grinder model #3440. It has been used for s working until someone miswired a plug. They set it outside since it didn't work. We are now freeing up the innards and it working well but runs hot. Ours is a cool retro green color. Any idea where I can get that 60's lime green color paint?
What kind of paint did you use to restore the outside?

Mike,

Our coffee grinder restoration was basically a cosmetic one. We did not get into a restoration of the interior working parts.
If anyone else has knowledge on this, please blog in.

I am refurbishing a Hobart Coffee Grinder (exactly the same as the "Black Beauty" pictures on this website). ... need help in understanding how to disassemble/remove the grinder wheels. I have removed some corrosion in the grinder wheel area, but I do not want to damage the wheels/blades by forcing them apart ... unless I understand how they are supposed to disassemble. Any resources/instructions you could point me towards would be kindly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Tom,

A lot of the items we write about in this blog are restorations we have done, but they are not for sale.

We aren't able to give estimates on the value of an item. If you keep an eye on Ebay or maybe Craig's List, your item is sure to be listed at some point. That may give you a rough idea of it's value but prices vary greatly depending on condition. Also, we had a local sign company replace the broken glass in our machine with vinyl on frosted glass.

The machine I have is The Hobart, Manufacturing Co., Troy, O., No 471971, model No. 2020. It's in ok condition, you can still see the gold leaf on and around it grinder and it has glass (I guess) in the top thingy where you place the coffee beans. I am trying to find out the value and was hoping there was a site you trusted. This is a first find for me.

Our museum has one of these beautys. One of the kids in a small tour group leaned on it, and broke the glass with the lettering. Can anyone help us replace this, or maybe they have some at vintage vending. Thanks, The Elmira Heights General Store Museum

Wow, what a great job. Can you give me any pointers for restoring my own? Also, do you know where I could find a replacement top?
Thanks!
