Vintage Cups, Glasses and Mugs

It’s interesting to see the different promotional and corporate products made over the years. Every week we will feature a cool retro cup, glass or mug from our large collection. We’ll share what we’ve learned about them and welcome your additional input and comments.

This cup and saucer were made for the International House of Pancakes Restaurant chain by Buffalo China, Inc. Based on the manufacturer’s mark, these were made some time after 1978. Starting out as Buffalo Pottery in 1901, they became Buffalo China Inc. in the mid-1950s. They were acquired by Oneida in 1983 and they are still a very successful manufacturer of restaurant ware today.

The first International House of Pancakes opened in Toluca Lake, California in 1958 and the chain has spread countrywide. There are even restaurants located throughout Alaska.
