Mello Yello is a soft drink created in 1979 by the Coca-Cola Company to compete with Pepsi’s Mountain Dew. Like their competitor’s soda, Mello Yello is a citrus-flavored soft drink with caffeine. This cup dates to the 1980s and was manufactured by the Solo Cup Company of Chicago, Illinois. Solo Cup was founded in 1936 by Leo Hulseman, a former employee of the Dixie Co.
