Coca-Cola, Pepsi and 7UP Rocking Logo Neon Clocks

We owned these three interesting and rare clocks many years ago and just wanted to share the photos with you. They were manufactured by Swihart Products of Elwood, Indiana.

7Up Swihart Products Clock

Swihart Coca-Cola Neon Clock

Neon Pepsi-Cola Swihart Clock

They are referred to as the rocking logo clock because the logos on top rock back and forth. In addition to that cool feature, they are also neon clocks. We do not know much more about them so if you do, please blog in and let us know.

These items are not for sale. We show restored items in this blog to encourage discussion, prompt questions and further the hobby of collecting and restoration.

I have a Swihart Clock also. It is a Covalt’s Ice Cream clock and I was wondering how the motion dial worked? I would like to send you a photo of it. Thanks, Mike Kendall

    Hi Michael,

You are welcome to send us a picture of your clock at questions@vintagevending.com. We haven’t owned these clocks in a while, and we are out of the restoration business, so we really can’t help with the motion dial.

If anyone else can help, please leave a comment.

We have an antique Swihart Coca Cola clock that was damaged when a tree fell on our house. How can I find its value.

  • 4 vintagevending // Jul 13, 2009 at 9:43 am

We aren’t able to give estimates on the value of an item. If you keep an eye on Ebay, your item is sure to be listed at some point. That may give you a rough idea of it’s value but keep in mind prices vary greatly depending on condition. If anyone can help with a value of this item please comment.

I have, believed to be from the 20’s, a Swlhart Pepsi-Cola lighted clock that needs a new motor. Had it worked on once and ran for a while then began to get slow. Always been in my family. Are there any others this old?

I have two neon advertising electric wall clocks for about 20 years. Excellent running and appearance. I think made in the 1950’s. 20″ in diameter and reads Colonial is good Bread. Cannot find in any listings. Would like to know if I have something of value for I am interested in selling.

We aren’t able to give an estimate on worth, as we have been out of the business for a while. You could try ebay or Craig’s List, sometimes items like this pop up. If anyone else can help, please comment.

Hello all, I am Donald Swihart’s daughter. My Dad did not make these clocks in the ’20s as he didn’t start the business until after he got out of the army which would have been 1945/’46. He was in business until around 1979 or 1980 when, unfortunately, he filed bankruptcy

I’m excited that there are those of you who appreciate his work. The original, early clocks had Hansen motors in them which seemed to last forever. He was forced, and I do mean he hated to do it, to go to a cheaper motor due to customers wanting cheaper clocks. He had to keep up with the competition. Later he made menu boards and regular clocks due to the lack of demand for the neon. He did make some cool things. I had a few, but when I moved from Arkansas to Alaska I gave them away.

His factory was indeed in Elwood, Indiana though he lived in Indianapolis for a short while. Thank you for appreciating his work. He would have been delighted.

Thank you for sharing with us. Those clocks are pieces of our history and I truly appreciate the kind of man your dad was. Those of us who happen to possess one of the clocks hold them dear and continue to enjoy them!

I appreciate the sentiment. As I said earlier, he would be delighted.

  • 19 Sharon (Swihart) Hanna // Mar 22, 2012 at 2:10 am

    Tommy Hartline Sr.

If the clock is a Swihart Products clock, it would have had a second hand.

  • 20 eddie rankey // Mar 26, 2012 at 6:47 pm

in regards to message 18 (tommy Hartline) yes it has a second hand, i have a 1959 RC Cola Wall clock, i bought at an antigue store back in the mid 1980’s, still works, has a light also, a light bulb, probably bought it for $20.00, i was wondering how much you paid for yours? Or does anyone have an idea of what is worth now?

Where can I find a circular neon light assembly for a Swihart “NuGrape” clock? Are these available commercially from lighting suppliers?

  • 24 Donita Covington // Mar 12, 2015 at 10:12 pm

    To Sharon Swihart:
I worked for your dad as an assistant manager in assembly. I probably worked for him for 2.5 years. He always took us to college football games and Sharon Tyner was my boss, and a lady named Twila was his right arm. I am looking for a clock we made just for my own memories. please if you find one I will pay for it. I really would like one for my kitchen just for the memories. Thank you
