Also known as the “Spin Top”, the Vendo 23 vended 23 bottles and pre-cooled 7. Introduced in 1949, it was a smaller cooler, made specifically to fit into smaller spaces. It was intended as an alternative to the bulkier upright vendors available at the time.
Behind the large pullout door there was storage for empties or additional bottles of Coca-Cola. It had an all-steel construction with a baked enamel finish and featured automatic defrost.
This machine was designed to accept 5 cents, 6 cents, or 10 cents and was unable to make change. The vending was done manually, by rotating the handle and lifting the lid to remove a soda.
Dimensions: 20”D x 24”W x 36”H
Weight: 156 lbs.
Manufactured by:
The Vendo Company
Kansas City, Missouri

I have one of the Vendo v 23 models. It needs restoring – any idea how much it might be worth?
2 vintagevending // Jun 29, 2009 at 9:15 am
We aren’t able to give estimates on the value of an item. If you keep an eye on Ebay or Craig’s List, your item is sure to be listed at some point. That may give you a rough idea of it’s value but keep in mind prices vary greatly depending on condition. You can also contact fun-tronicsllc.com (217) 857-1759 for more specific information on machines. If anyone can help with a value of this item please comment.

Good luck finding a coin mech. I have been looking for one myself for a long time and cannot find one new or used. You would think that somebody would have one. All of the vendo-23 that I have seen so far the coin mech. has been taken out. I might just sell my machine but I don’t know what it is worth, it is in real good condition. All It needs is the coin mech. It has been in storage for the last three years. so if can find an extra coin mech. used or new please email Thanks for reading.

Jim,
Have you tried colamachines.com? They sell them, and also there is a forum that you can post to, and hopefully someone will have one for you. Also, ebay is a great resource.

I have an original working 1950 Vendo 23 Deluxe A23A5 that im interested in selling. This machine was made by Vendo before they started using the Star Handel at the coin slot. This should make it more rare. It also has the original large 6 cent logo on the front storage door. Please email me if you are interested in pictures or discussing purchase. Located in New York.
This is a link to a similar restored machine of the same period.

Thanks for posting the serial numbers and dates for the Vendo 23. Where did you find this information? I would like to lookup serial numbers for other Vendo machines (or other companies, for that matter). Thanks.

Can anyone tell me how to get the top off on the V-23 E from the hinges? I don’t know if it will come off without pulling the hinges off from the bottom portion of the machine.

I have a vintage, all original Vendo “deluxe” spin top Coca Cola machine (model # A23E). I plugged it in today and the machine works great. Immediately began cooling down and hummed quietly along. This unit is listed on Craigslist. If you are interested, check it out.
